Hand Therapy
When an individual’s life is disrupted due to injury to the hand and upper extremity, “Hand Therapy” becomes essential in the restoration of maximum function.
With the increasing demands to provide efficient and effective care, our Hand/Upper Extremity Clinic is staffed by Occupational Therapists who have a special knowledge, understanding and commitment to the treatment of the upper extremity: shoulder through hand.
The specialty of hand therapy was developed due to advances in surgical techniques that enable greater functional restoration of injured or diseased upper extremities. Therapeutic intervention of a skilled, specialized Occupational Therapist who is able to integrate the principles of rehabilitation with these surgical interventions is required to obtain such restoration.
Commonly treated diagnoses include fractures, tendon lacerations, nerve injuries, trauma, arthritis, wounds and carpal tunnel syndrome. Our staff includes certified hand therapists and certified lymphedema therapists who are also skilled in Workers Compensation Impairment Evaluation. We are available at our DeRenne location as well as Statesboro, Vidalia and Rincon.
